I M Possible

The office sponsored last Wednesday a one-hour talk to the entire organization entitled Poised to Grow with Mr. Ardy Abello as resource speaker.  Mr. Abello is on his 25th year as life coach, motivational speaker, articulate, trained teacher under John Maxwell and a businessman.

But I am not here to talk about Mr. Abello though his life, as I perceived it and my impression that day, was a colorful and interesting one enough to merit page/s here in my blog.  But such will require a sit-down meeting with him to do his biography, goodlooking as he still is, might require a lot of attention and focus.

“A goal will dare the impossible.”  This was one of the focal point in the discussion.  Mr. Abello even asked that a certain shoe brand used the word Impossible in its tagline as “Impossible is Nothing”.  I took a good look at the word and it came upon me that in today’s techie world with social media abundantly used and abused nowadays, the word is really meant to be…. I M Possible.

So, from Mr. Abello’s “a goal will dare the impossible” to that tagline of “impossible is nothing” really meant that “I am possible“.  Whatever slogan or tagline we come up with, we will always end up with a positive notion in our mind to do the possible.

For the past three (3) months, my Department faced crucial deadlines and requirement to beat.  We thought, I might be the most, that such undertakings seems to be impossible to reach, not the undertaking itself but the timeline it imposes. Not to set aside the fact that certain matters are beyond the Unit’s control and is at the 3rd party’s disposal and mercy.  And yet, we gave it our best shot.  What did we do, you wonder?  Compromise, communicate and persevere.  It may look quite easy and simple but it took courage to discuss something that you cannot deliver.  In my opinion, I better be honest rather than be smug and promise.

We thought and discussed what are the priorities and what are those that can be put in the backseat for a while and can wait.  Doing this provided us to have our focal point.  Such was/were the concentration of our focus of achievement and we did it.  We even get back to those in the backseat and were put in the forefront.  Our commitment is to help the organization achieve milestones.

Prayers were even said, though this has been our saving grace, if you asked me.  As Dorie has put it, “ang lakas ko daw kay Lord!” when a blessing came up unexpectedly.

So for all its worth, I M POSSIBLE is actually not me alone but my entire Finance Unit who has given endless support and effort.  I owe you guys, you know who you are!

As my Raya will joke about impossibility with this cute one:

Mommy, I think I’m the only smart person who can lick her own elbow.  “How?”, I asked.  “By doing this Mom.”  Then she goes with licking her right point finger then tapping it to her left elbow.  Imagine that.  Automatically, I thought of that’s not possible, touching your tongue to your elbow.  But to the mind of my 6 year-old, impossible can be possible.
